The CEO of An-Najah National University Hospital, Dr. Amin Thalji, received Mr. George Nol, the President of the American Office for Palestinian Affairs, and his accompanying delegation on Thursday, June 8, 2023. The purpose of their visit was to explore the hospital and discuss future cooperation in various healthcare fields.
Mr. George Nol and his delegation were welcomed by Dr. Hussam Salama, the Medical Director, Dr. Sultan Masleh, the Head of the Pediatric Department and Consultant in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Fawaz Yasin, Consultant in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Abdelkarim Barqawi, Consultant in General Surgery and Laparoscopy, and Dr. Zakaria Hamdan, the Head of the Nephrology Department. Additionally, they were joined by Engineer Hatem Al-Wahsh, the Director of the Construction and Projects Department, Engineer Fadi Al-Risha from the Construction and Projects Department, Mr. Osama Sannour, the Head of the Public Relations and Marketing Department, and Engineer Ahmed Duweikat, the Head of the Information Technology Department.
Dr. Thalji provided a detailed explanation to the visiting delegation about the hospital, its establishment, and its future projects. He emphasized the leading role it plays in the Palestinian healthcare system.
Dr. Hussam Salama, the Medical Director, discussed the hospital's financial situation, the high rate of medical referrals to the hospital, the high bed occupancy rate, and the Palestinian people's need for the development and improvement of services, particularly in the fields of hematology, oncology, and nephrology. He highlighted the need to establish specialized and rare departments and services that contribute to the educational program and provide the required healthcare service in the nation.
Mr. George Nol expressed his satisfaction with the visit and praised the hospital as a clear example of the Palestinian people's capability to build institutions that serve various Palestinian sectors, contribute to community development, and improve Palestinian healthcare.
The visit included an inspection tour by Mr. George Nol and his accompanying delegation, which covered the Pediatric Department, the Nephrology Department, and a look at future construction projects, including the new hospital building, the radiation therapy building, and the Bone Marrow Transplant Department for children.
