Patient Rights and Responsibilities

Dear patient receiving treatment and services at NNUH, you have several rights, including:
  • To receive complete care and treatment that respects your dignity and is characterized by humanity, while respecting religious and social values without subjecting you to any harm.
  • To be cared for by a competent and specialized medical team that provides you with comprehensive services and care.
  • You have the right to ask questions, seek clarification, voice complaints, and make suggestions, ensuring that your concerns are heard and addressed transparently by the hospital management and its staff.
  • You have the right to access necessary information regarding your illness in a way that enables you to properly understand your medical condition.
  • You have the right to choose your treating physician, with the possibility of seeking a second opinion from another doctor, whether inside or outside the hospital.
  • You have the right to access your treatment plan, complications, and side effects after assessing the pain you are suffering from and treating it appropriately, while taking into consideration your involvement in decision-making.
  • You have the right to receive visitors according to the hospital's policies and as allowed by your health condition.
  • You have the right to have a companion during your hospital stay in accordance with the hospital's policy.
  • Maintaining complete privacy during the treatment period, with full confidentiality of all information related to treatment and requesting reports according to the hospital's patient information privacy policy.
  • You have the right to be informed about the costs of your treatment and receive a bill for it.
  • You have the right to refuse treatment and leave the hospital in accordance with the law and the hospital's policy.
Dear patient, to ensure the best and optimal service, you have certain responsibilities towards NNUH, which you should follow, including:
  • We kindly request you to adhere to the hospital's laws and policies, including (visitor reception, visiting hours, and refraining from bringing food or anything that may pose a risk to patients).
  •  Please maintain all hospital property and refrain from tampering with or causing damage to it.
  • Please maintain a quiet and orderly environment within the hospital.
  • Please treat the hospital staff with respect and refrain from any form of mistreatment, so that the hospital's staff can  provide their services correctly.
  •  We kindly request you to inform your treating physician of all relevant information regarding your medical condition and not to withhold any details, so they can provide proper care.
  •  Please follow your treating physician's instructions and adhere to the treatment plan. In the event of any changes in your medical condition, it is your responsibility to inform the doctor or nursing staff.
  • If you do not understand the diagnosis, treatment plan, complications, or side effects that your treating physician has informed you about, we kindly request you to seek further clarification and ask questions until you receive satisfactory answers.
  •  Please adhere to appointment schedules when attending the hospital, following the established policies.
  •  Please understand that there is a priority for critically ill and emergency patients.
  •  Please fulfill your financial obligations and cover expenses in a timely manner.
  • Please inform the nursing staff of your whereabouts if you are allowed to leave your room so that the nursing team is aware of your location.
  • In the event of any violations of hospital rules and policies, whether committed by you or by those accompanying you, you are responsible for them.
