On Monday, January 23, 2023, An-Najah National University Hospital celebrated the opening of its Kidney Disease Treatment Center in the hospital's new building. The event was attended by Mr. Sabih Al-Masri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of An-Najah University, Dr. Rami Hamdallah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of An-Najah National University Hospital, and Dr. Shukri Bishara, Minister of Finance, along with esteemed personalities, donors, businesspeople, and representatives of supporting institutions who contributed to the completion of the Kidney Disease Treatment Center project.
The Kidney Disease Treatment Center at the hospital is a comprehensive center for kidney disease treatment, encompassing prevention, early detection, and the provision of state-of-the-art medical services. It strives to expand its services to include health education, early detection, and kidney transplantation.
Being located within the university hospital, one of the primary goals of the center is to support the educational process in the field of medicine and health sciences and promote scientific research in this domain.
The center serves approximately 450 patients from Nablus and other regions of Palestine, offering hemodialysis for around 300 patients and peritoneal dialysis for approximately 150 patients. Additionally, the center provides various diagnostic and therapeutic services for kidney diseases beyond kidney failure.
The Kidney Department at NNUH has been operational since 2013, initially accommodating 160 dialysis patients who were transferred from the National Hospital in Nablus. Over the years, the number of patients has increased to 450. Until the end of 2022, the department operated with four shifts per day from Saturday to Thursday, with a capacity of up to 45 dialysis sessions per shift.
NNUH extends its gratitude to all parties that contributed to donations and the completion of this humanitarian medical project. In appreciation of their generous contributions, plaques of thanks and recognition have been installed in the corridors of the Kidney Disease Treatment Center.
