The Cardiology and Catheterization Department at An-Najah National University Hospital performed a new and groundbreaking procedure, Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC), to close the left atrial appendage in a patient suffering from atrial fibrillation. The procedure was conducted by Professor Younes Dar Amouri and the medical team.
This procedure is used as an alternative to anticoagulant medications, which are taken by atrial fibrillation patients to prevent blood clots. These medications can cause internal bleeding in some individuals or increase the risk of bleeding. Closing the left atrial appendage through this procedure is an important element in reducing the formation of blood clots and minimizing the risk of bleeding in atrial fibrillation patients.
